Interactive Net and Performers

25 January

We used layers of net to create a diagonal wall, standing behind the netted wall stunning shadows could be seen.

Small films of the participants were made and then projected onto the net. This hit the back wall creating a multi-layered moving image. Participants were invited to sit between the images and perform in the installation.

Interactive NET

11 and 18 January 2016

After the festive break we are working with textured nets over the next five weeks. So far we have worked with nets placed diagonally from different sides. Projected lights, shadows, movement and sound have been introduced to accompany the Net Installation.

Rituals

For the next few weeks we will be looking at what rituals are.
Looking at different traditions, cultures and beliefs as well as what rituals mean to us.
How do we ritualise our own lives and when does an action become a ritual?
This week we used very simple objects to create a "sacred" place. The way we moved, the sounds we created and the way we controlled the bells and wooden blocks, we created our own ritual.

Fallen Rock or Star?

On Monday's Capturing Action we had a very exciting workshop.
Mervyn set the scene for the workshop. We had one shiny ball on the floor, Mervyn insisted it was a fallen star not a rock!

What happened next ... a few more stars appeared, people became very precious and slightly possessive of the star not wanting to share it with anyone else.

The stars eventually dispersed and interesting duets took place.

Capturing Mud

Over the last few weeks at our Outreach project, we have been exploring working with mud.
Using large floor pieces and smaller detailed canvases we worked with clay, sand, mud and soil.
Along side this we also explored movement work, solo pieces and group performances, that, combined with the music team and the newly made visual art created an all immersive swamp-like world.
Please click 'read more' to see all the photos from the last few weeks :)
